Glenn Hauser logs April 9-10, 2018

** CUBA. 11860, April 9 at 2247, RHC Spanish on new frequency, tough luck Saudi/Yemen. Also on 11830, 11840, 11850 (two of them spurs), and Portuguese on 11880, Cuba plentiful within 50 kHz! Until now 11860 RHC was just a JBA second-order spur out of 11840. Now it`s full power, intentionally scheduled to Europe at 1930-2300 in French, Portuguese, Arabic and Spanish; but 11860 still on at 2338 S9+10 with JBM music, // 11840 which is now suptorted; wiggle that patchcord!

11880, which was on earlier, April 9 at 2338 is now off instead of English as confirmed the day before and the day after.

7330, April 9 at 2342, new for RHC Spanish, despite adjacency to 7335 jamming and Radio Martí, best tuned with LSB. How long will Arnie keep this and 7340 in the mornings? Normally stays at least 10 away from his jammers (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 13740, April 10 at 1400, CRI English relay, but ALSO RHC in Spanish making fast SAH --- so two separate transmitters, for RHC until 1400 and China after 1400. Roughly equal levels, but more modulation in Spanish. Collision lasts until about 1405, RHC off by 1406; something`s always incompetent at RadioCuba. Commies vs Commies, Cubans vs Cubans.

What else is happening after 1400?
13700 (ex-15370) is not on yet at 1401, supposed to start at 1300.
7340 is S9-S6 but undermodulated, sked until 1500, after Martí -1400.
6060 is still on at 1404, supposed to stop at 1400.
6100 is still on at 1405, with Asian CCI, supposed to stop at 1300.

12000, April 9 at 2210, no signal, new frequency scheduled 2100-0400.
11860, April 9 at 2210, now with het from 11856v Aparecida, Brasil; RHC off by 2330 today unlike yesterday
11700, April 9 at 2210, poor signal, new in Portuguese, plus 23-05 in Spanish (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 1925, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** KURDISTAN [non]. 11530, April 9 at 1846, Denge Welat with Kurdish talk, interspersed with stingers, S5-S8; via FRANCE until 1900, then switches to Pridnestrovye. No more Herwa in the way at 1930-2000, 11530 canceled by WRMI (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MADAGASCAR. 17640, April 9 at 1842, no signal from MWV English hour, which normally is loud and clear here on the other worldside; off the air, or very depressed propagation? WWV reported at 1800 K index of 2, no storms yet, but G1 expected in next 24 hours (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A [and non]. 9330v-CUSB, April 9 at 2340, no signal from WBCQ for WOR 1924 at 2330; 5130v and 7490v are on and in OK. WOR 1924 confirmed April 10 at 0030 UT Tuesday on WRMI 7730, S9+20/30. Also confirmed Tuesday April 10 at 2030 & 2130 both on fair 9455, and poor in noise 7780. Again Tue Apr 10 at 2330, no signal from 9330 WBCQ (nor any earlier in the day at random chex).

WORLD OF RADIO 1925 contents: Albania non, Algeria non, Australia, Bolivia, Brasil, Congo and non, Cuba, Egypt, India, International Waters and non, Korea South, Kurdistan non, Mali, Mongolia, New Zealand, Nigeria non, Oklahoma, Romania, Taiwan non, Turkey, Ukraine, USA; and the propagation outlook

** U S A. 9955 // < 9455, Tue April 10 at 1335, WRMI with a `new` `Viva Miami`, Jeff monolog in English instead of Spanish about HFCC in Malaysia three months ago, cuisine, resorts, extracurricular activities (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 9487.9 & 9462.1, April 9 at 1850, plus and minus ~12.9 kHz parasitic spurs out of 9475.0 WTWW, again implying that it`s the #2 transmitter which flanx the same around 5085 at night, is now in use on the #1 frequency in the daytime (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 1925, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 1130, April 9 at 1808 UT check, KLEY Wellington KS is now completely off the air, not off the air for a few seconds at a time. But at 1858 recheck, now it`s on continuously, 1859 UT ID plugging their FM 100.3 which is a translator (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 7465.6-LSB approx., April 10 at 0615, intermittent talk soon obvious as one side of a ham contact, but the SSB pitch is unsteady depending on modulation level. To try to keep him sounding normal, I`m having to keep tuning between 7465.5 and 7465.7 or so.

Suspected a harmonic from 80m band, and then hear what sounds like the same guy on 3733.0-LSB, but no chance to match on two receivers. Altho weaker than x 2, fundamental frequency is steady, modulation OK. Several interchanges with no IDs before I doze (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
