Glenn Hauser logs April 13-14, 2018

** CHAD [non]. 5960, April 14 at 0459, carrier at S9-S8, soon African music, and announcement in *French*, which I can`t copy fully, including, ``Vous êtes à l`ecoute de --- internationale``, ``six heures, samedi quatorze avril``, fréquences and program summary for the hour to follow; 0503 hilife music.

Since it starts in French rather than English, I assume this is the one originating from Ndjamena rather than Maiduguri, whether it is really appelling itself Ndarason rather than Dandal Kura yet. This hour only is now registered as 250 kW, 65 degrees from ASCENSION, something BaBcoCkian in Kanuri (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 7330, April 14 at 0054, no signal from RHC, supposedly scheduled 21-04 UT. Nor anything on 7340, the other side of jamming and Radio Martí, which is supposedly scheduled mornings only, 11-15 UT. But at 0455, 7340 is on with RHC Spanish, S9, undermodulated and USB necessary vs 7335 jamming and Martí; off by 0505 recheck. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 6100, April 14 at 0504, RHC English missing from this one, still nothing at 0514. The rest of The Cuban Five are on: best on 5040 and 6060 as usual; 6000 suptorted --- wiggle that patchcord; 6165 is S9 to S9+20/30 with old news obviously pre-Drumpf strike on Syria (if there is any ``breaking news`` after 0100 UT, RHC won`t get around to it until tomorrow; or maybe not even after 1900 UT when the English hour airs first, to be repeated seven times). Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 13700, April 14 at 1457, RHC is on but no spurs today, tsk2 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA [and non]. 9490, April 14 at 0059, only jamming heard past 0100 as jamming builds up, but soon JBA carrier detectable amid from Radio República. HFCC A-18 claims RMI has some Spanish broadcast, 150 kW, 285 degrees from Issoudun, FRANCE at 0200-0300 & 0300-0400; also days 1 & 7 only at 0400-0500. And duplicate registrations on 7350, where nothing is heard, after CRI English via Kashgar until <0100 .="" p="">

WRTH 2018 pp 512-513 shows two websites:
http://www.directorio.org
which linx in turn to this for the broadcasts in particular:
http://directorio.wildapricot.org/radiorepublica
Wild Apricot? What`s that about? It shows:

``CUBA: Onda Corta 9490 kHz
lunes a viernes 9pm-11pm
sabados y domingos 9pm-12am``

i.e. EST/EDT, so during Yanqui-mandated DST, it`s one UT hour earlier than registered, starting at 0100 UT! And the weekend extension in UT days should be in HFCC as 1 & 2, not 7 & 1. ABOUT:

It`s always seemed strange to me that RR, which originally broadcast via WRMI when it was 9955 only, altho brokered by RMI, keeps using France now that multiple much closer 100 kW Okeechobee transmitters are available, which ought to put a stronger signal into Cuba vs the jamming. From over here, the 9490 signal from France varies greatly in level and S/N ratio (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6905-AM, April 14 at 0009, JBA carrier; 0052 electronic music S9+10 vs storm noise east of here, past 0107, with long pauses of dead air. These logs say it was Cool AM Radio:

** UGANDA [non]. 15239.935, April 14 at 1454, S2-S3 African music, i.e. Radio Munansi via WWRB. If it`s anything like last Saturday, could be continuous music for hours before getting down to business (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 1925 monitoring: not confirmed, Friday April 13 at 2330 on WBCQ, no signal again from 9330v-CUSB, altho it was detected poorly ~23 hours earlier. Next:

** U S A. 5950, April 14 at 0458, WRMI `Oldies` channel is S8-S5 while there are no signals from // 9395 & 9455; 5950 for at least the third night now, and still unshown on the skedgrid for WRMI-14, off the air from 0200 to 1100, so now may be filling all those hours? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 9330, April 14 at 1500 and 2330 chex, no signal detectable from this WBCQ. Wonder what happened to main transmitter, which was doing so well last week? Larry Will reported to the WOR iog:

``WBCQ 9330 noted Friday April 13, 2018, 1800-1815 UT after seemingly off for several days. Talk by some doomsday/prepper nut for several minutes, and then Brother Scare with commentary. Fair to good signal on the PL-880 despite overall noisy conditions. The transmission appears to be in AM mode; new exciter? (Larry Will, Mount Airy, MD)``

Evidently nothing about 9330 on `Allan Weiner Worldwide``; John Carver`s reportage of AWWW this week, UT Sat Apr 14:

``Listening on 7490 this evening as the signal is greater than 20 over. Theme song started at 0001 after some fill music. Over the theme Allan stated that there would be a real mailbag this evening. Allan and Angela in studio 9 in FLA. Allan commented on Angela's tan and said she looked like a pretzel.

Opening talk about how AM and SW are very similar except for channel spacing, frequency range and antennas. Then talked about antennas and stated that 5130 was back on the thousand foot rhombic. Talked very briefly about the rotating curtain antenna that would be used on the new super station. This mutated into a talk about radio waves which are light waves and then talked about all the different waves until he got to cosmic waves.

Reading of actual QSL letters began at 0031. Reading of emails began at 0049. Allan dodged two questions about who was behind the new super station and talked about the power consumption of the new transmitter and said that the electric service at the station was being upgraded. He mentioned some numbers for electrical consumption which I didn't catch but I know the last number mentioned was over a million watts.

Program was off the air at 0100. No phone calls or politics this evening. John, Mid-North Indiana`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 12105, 9930, 9475, 5830, 5085, April 14 at 1459, WTWW is missing from all possible frequencies; natch, including the spurs (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 1130, April 13 at 2119 UT check, KLEY Wellington KS back to normal for now, presumably the station with unbroken carrier talking instead of musicking on right bearing vs heavy storm noise (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
