Glenn Hauser logs March 15-16, 2018

** ARGENTINA [non]. 9395, March 15 across ToH 1900 UT, WRMI still playing music instead of RAE in German, then Italian (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CANADA. 413 kHz, March 16 at 0556, beacon YHD and dash, from Dryden, Ont.. (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) See also USA

** CAYMAN ISLANDS. 415 kHz, March 16 at 0555, beacon CBC from Cayman Brac; JBA, weaker than the other US & Canadian ones logged now in the 400s (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 15370, March 16 at 1337, RHC is S9+20 but no extremely distorted FMy spurs detectable all over the 19m band. Somethings not wrong at RHC. But I bet they`ll be *back* (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** GUATEMALA. 4055, March 16 at 0459, last notes of national anthem until a few seconds past 0500, from Radio Verdad, as publicized to be signing off an hour early this date, something to do with its magical Worldwide coverage allegedly being implemented for the last few years. Well, the same S7-S9 carrier stays on with dead air past 0525; so, what? The same thing is promised for UT Sunday March 18 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** KOREA SOUTH. 5917.690, March 16 at 1326, poor carrier from Voice of Freedom, varied down further, from 5917.764, 24 hours earlier. Wolfgang Büschel put it on 5917.689 at 0746 March 16, and also 5917.764 at 0040 UT March 16, via remote SDRs in Japan (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** TURKEY. 13685.064, March 16 at 1406, JBA carrier off-frequency plus. I bet it`s typical Turkey. Yes: 1330-1426, VOT Uyghur, 500 kW, 82 degrees from Emirler, per B17 via Aoki/NDXC (Glenn hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 420 kHz, March 16 at 0554, ND beacon FQ. Dxinfocentre.com shows it as an LOM in Fairmont MN; I was really tuned to 418-USB. classaxe.com adds `Montz` to the location.

417 kHz, March 16 at 0555, beacon IY, which is from Charles City IA. Classaxe.com adds `Chukk` to location, and 25 watts (BTW there was another IY, on 434 in Storm Lake IA but dxinfocenter.com says it is decommissioned; related? 212 km = 132 miles apart)

410 kHz, March 16 at 0557, beacon EGQ, Emmetsburg IA

405 kHz, March 16 at 0558, beacon HRU, Herington KS (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) See also CANADA, CAYMAN logs during this session

** U S A. 13564-CW, March 15 at 2059 UT, HIFER beacon GNK repeating IDs vs CODAR swishes. Have not heard this one for some time, and now neither the usual RF nor K6FRC is audible circa this frequency. LWCA shows it on 13563.99, Madison WI, EN53ao, 10 wpm CW (reported 2017/12). My last log of it in 2017y said:

``13564-CW, Oct 2 at 1429, GNK beacon is very poorly audible
vs CODAR. This is in Madison WI, last logged Feb 16, despite almost
daily random scans of the 13550-13570 band -`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 7490+, Thu March 15 at 2104, `Allan Weiner Worldwide` from a few weeks ago as he had returned from an enjoyable Carnival cruise to Dominican Republic, Grand Turk. This hour is an ``available time slot``.

7490+, UT Fri March 16 at 0130, surprised to find this WBCQ on air after 9 pm ET --- and it`s Blalock the Blaster, who is already on 9330 (I assume, still) at 00-01 UT most nights. No, this is not shown on the websked, 7490 supposedly off air between 01 and 20 UT Fridays (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 1130, March 15 at 1907 UT check, yes, KLEY Wellington KS is SNAFU yet again, pulsing and modulated carrier cutting off and on at different rates (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 6150-USB, March 16 at 0137, INTRUDERS, Spanish 2-way discussing something measured in ``kilos`` --- of what? Kilo merely means thousand. Oh, we know what. They found a nice clear 49m SWBC band frequency at this hour; but not on Sundays. The Farty KBC plans to go back to 5960 starting A-18, and as usual 9925 from May (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 7501-USB, March 16 at 0544, US military cryptic alfanumeric fonetik messages which usually appear in the aero rather than fixed bands. Very clearly and slowly enunciated, so I have no trouble copying, but if anything is wrong it`s because my ball-point pen failed in the semi-darkness:

``message of 30 characters follows: [with oscars, no zeroes and for comparison I place the next partly different one directly below it]
BMQR4PTAOAGRBB46OJSOTTNKUTUFFT
BMQR4P3OOAGRBB46OJSOTTPRUTTEFT

More to follow; stand by; BMQR4P, stand by`` x3. Then the first sequence was repeated two more times. After pause, the other one also introduced as ``message of 30 characters follows``, but cited only once. Ending at 0548 as ``This is 5EW, out``. UDXF iog search gets no significant hits on frequency or flexible? callsign (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
