Glenn Hauser logs December 13-14, 2017

** CUBA. 17430, Dec 14 at 1402, JBA carrier. Checking this since Harold Frodge reported RHC here. I explain that it`s a leapfrog mixing product of 17730 over 17580 another 150 kHz beyond; so possible only when both are on the air and preferably inblasting, which they are not now: only S9 on 17580, S5 on 17730. Reverse leapfrog on 17880 not audible (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** KOREA NORTH [non]. 5935, Dec 14 at 1407, good S9+10 signal in Japanese. YL turns over to OM speaking in an echoey venue. 1429 with contact info .jp, website pronounced in English but too much accent; 1430 mentions kirohertz several times, 1432 switch to different announcer for ID ``Kochirawa Shiokaze desu``. It`s the 1405-1435 relay of Furusato no Kaze on its December frequency, 300 kW, 290 degrees from JSR, Ibaragi-Koga-Yamata, JAPAN; quite better here than I have been getting for Sea Breeze itself before 1400 on 6085, whose English on Thursday I missed today (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** KOREA NORTH [non]. 7295, Dec 14 at 1434, S9+10 sweet song in waltz time, 1438 Japanese announcements. Per Aoki/NDXC, this is Furusato no Kaze, 1430-1500, 300 kW, 352 degrees via BaBcoCk, Paochung, TAIWAN (also same at 1330-1357, a prepeat? And Korean version before that at 1300-1330) (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6940-USB, Dec 14 at 2216, hard rock pirate, 2220 synthyl ID about four times, ``Welcome to Clever Name Radio`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** PHILIPPINES. 9883 & 9717 approx., Dec 14 at 1434, big dirty spurblobs in Korean, as the VOA Tinang transmitter on 9800 is radiating these awful spurs again, but sounds OK on S9+10 fundamental. The spurs have easily matchable audio in AM mode, but not with BFO on, where one cannot pinpoint exact frequencies for them, plus and minus ~83 kHz. Scheduled at 1300-1500, 250 kW, one of the numerous 21 degree antennas from Tinang, which means it carries right on across North America (Pusan-Barrow-Sioux Lookout-Ohio-South Carolina) (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 1908 monitoring: confirmed Wednesday December 13 at 2200 on WBCQ, 7489.928v, fair S9-S7. By 2215 drifted down to 7489.900v. Not confirmed UT Thu Dec 14 at 0030 on WBCQ, 9330v-CUSB: No signal (while neighbors: 9265 WINB VP, < 9370 WWRB, < 9395 WRMI).

Despite inaudibility, I am not removing the 9330 broadcasts from my schedule until and unless WBCQ inform me, directly or indirectly, that they are no longer intending to broadcast it. Still shows on sked:

** U S A. 9455, Dec 14 at 0659, 1442 and 1537 chex, this WRMI transmitter, #5, continues to be off the air; easily confirmed by comparing to 9395 & 9955 which are always on. This could impact two Tuesday and one Wednesday broadcast of World of Radio, as well as many other programs, including all those originally on still silent 15770 at 21-22 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 1280, Dec 14 at 1347 UT, 1352 UT, and 1427 UT chex, KSOK Arkansas City KS is open carrier, dead air, but music finally resumed at 1511 UT check. Who cares? As long as they`ve got the paltry FM translator going, inaudible here (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
