Glenn Hauser logs May 22-23, 2016

** ARGENTINA. 15343.97, May 23 at 0132, LRA is only S3 and dipping below 15344, let alone <15345 any="" can="" dead="" div="" jbm.="" make="" modulation="" nbsp="" or="" out="" so="" t="">

Anomalies in WRTH info: WRTH 2016 book page 451 shows Sat & Sun 1800-2400 (timings vary) on 6060 is **Radio Nacional Rock relay, while 15345 at same rough hours is *Radio Nacional 870 relay.

The A-16 update just issued reverses the asterisks, claiming 15345 is now R. Nacional Rock! Has anyone ever heard such IDs or rock music format on either frequency?

Also, Roger Tidy, England, reports: ``The English service of Radiodifusión Argentina al Exterior (RAE) says that it is reorganising its programmes and that, from the end of the month, it will broadcast seven days a week instead of only from Mondays to Fridays. It is not clear from the station's announcements whether this will apply to other language sections as well. RAE says that, until the changes come into force, its English broadcast will consist only of the news and music (Roger Tidy, London, UK, May 16, dxldyg via WORLD OF RADIO 1826, DX LISTENING DIGEST)``

BTW, looking at the original WRTH 2016, I see they missed all the RAE broadcasts after 00 until 05 UT on 11710.6v. With English (and the others?) becoming daily by June, presumably 11710.6v will replace 15344v after 0000 UT Sundays and Mondays as well as the otherdays (Glenn Hauser, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** BRAZIL. 11925+, May 23 at 0124, I can`t detect R. Bandeirantes on 11925.2 or more recent 11925.7, so off? Propagation degraded, but JBA carriers on lo sides of 11935 and 11855 from other ZYs, and 11780 is ``only`` S9+20 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CHINA. 16099.97, May 23 at 0135, CNR1 jammer in Chinese is very poor S2, the only WOOB found in a 15-17+ MHz scan, nothing on 16300 this time. Aoki lists slightly different target Sound of Hope offset:
16100.252 2115-1420 TWN * SOH Xi Wang Zhi Sheng  Chi ? 1-7

At 0138 I reach the 16mb, and detect S2 or S1 carriers on 17490, 17550, 17595, 17605, 17685, 17730 --- all of which are accounted for in Aoki as CNR, CRI or jammers against RFA (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 11635-11695, May 23 at 0121, RHC splatter extending this far out from 11670 which is overmodulated/distorted itself; getting to be a regular situation with this Bauta transmitter.

13740, May 23 at 0125, RHC music here too is overmod/distorted, but splattering only about 15 kHz above and below this Bauta; 11670 & 13740 are on adjacent antennas A4 and A5.

6000, May 23 at 0129, RHC English is S9+35 but just barely modulated; // 6165 at S9+35 is undermodulated but sufficient, so these compensate for the Spanish overmodulation on 11670 & 13740, ha2 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** EGYPT. 9965.00, May 23 at 0107, R. Cairo is S9+20 and on-frequency for a change, but JBM in Arabic plus whine.

9315.0, May 23 at 0116, R. Cairo is S9+20 here too, but with gross motorboat pulses, no intelligible modulation during scheduled Spanish. Furthermore a similar hideous sound but with no specific carrier point occupies the 9297-9298 area, also at S9+20. There is no match on the hi side of 9315 or anywhere else in the vicinity (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** GREECE. 9420 & 9935, UT Monday May 23 at 0120, both VOG frequencies are off; seems to be usually the case on weekends (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MADAGASCAR [and non]. 9665.0, May 23 at 0110, one station audible here, in English, ending ``Postcard from Alaska`` segment, then ``True [sic] Stories from the Bible``, so it`s MWV, but where`s Voz Missionária, Brasil? Maybe a brief interruption or deep fade, for by 0111 I do detect its weaker second signal making a SAH with MWV (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6955.0-USB, May 23 at 0128, pirate with narration, poor under louder heavy storm noise; 0142 JBA algo still. These logs say it was XLR8 between 0016 and 0204*:
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SRI LANKA. 11905, May 23 at 0114, JBA S2 carrier from SLBC; 0114:46.5, theme music starts; 0115:17, 2+1 mis-timesignal ends. SLBC remains quite consistent in its inaccuracy (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 1826 monitoring: confirmed Sunday May 22 at 2330 on WBCQ 9330v-CUSB. NOT confirmed next broadcast, UT Monday May 23 at 0030 on WRMI 7730 --- tho still on the web schedule, heard instead `Bible Commentary` in slow English, followed at 0045 by a `Viva Miami` interview about Sri Lankan cruising. Also confirmed UT Monday May 23 at 0300 on Area 51 webcast, and 0328 check on 5129.9-AM WBCQ; also confirmed UT Monday May 23 at 0330 on WRMI 9955. Next:
Mon 2330   WBCQ 9330v-CUSB to WSW
Tue 1100   WRMI 9955 to SSE
Tue 2130   WRMI 15770 to NE
Tue 2330   WBCQ 9330v-CUSB to WSW
Wed 1315.5 WRMI 9955 to SSE
Wed 2100   WBCQ 7490v to WSW
Wed 2330   WBCQ 9330v-CUSB to WSW
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 9330v-AM, UT Monday May 23 at 0104, WBCQ alternate transmitter test which has been running a few days is off; did not come back following the CUSB broadcast at 2330-0100. Further, not heard around 0530 or 1230 --- the latter time when it had been audible on May 21, and with WHVW relay May 22. I suspect it`s the same transmitter which had also tested on 3250v, and was never heard when 9330v-AM was on, but even if on in evening, may not have penetrated the heavy storm noise level (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 15240, Sunday May 22 at 1830 check, WWRB is indeed still on and with that Ugandan-language clandestine which Dave refuses to identify. See my previous reports. Ivo Ivanov also reports on May 22:
``1700-1800 on 15240*WRB 100 kW / 045 deg to Af/ME Ugandan clandestine
  1800-1900 on 15240 WRB 100 kW / 045 deg to Af/ME Ugandan clandestine
* QRM R. Assenna & Eritrean Forum on 15245. Zero signal after 1815!``

5050, UT Monday May 23 at 0106, WWRB is on with ponderous gospel huxter, not Alex Scourby, referencing Bible about Fornicators (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 12105, May 23 at 0124, WTWW-3 is AWOL (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** YEMEN [non]. 11860, May 23 at 0123, poor S5 signal in Arabic, so Republic of Yemen Radio relay; better at 1300 with apparent news, but not the bigsig it used to provide in our mornings (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
