to Indonesian. Noticed this impinging upon 9680 where I was trying to pull

** NORTH AMERICA [and non]. 6940-USB, May 22 at 0130, pirate
music on VG S9+40 signal overriding the local device noise level even on the
R-75. Only one station could pull this off, and soon confirmed at 0135 ID for
Wolverine Radio, this time with multiple echoes, first time I have heard it that
way; and right into SSTV beeps until 0138*.
BTW, this far eclipses the
puny VP S7 signal on 9925 from The Mighty KBC via Germany, which from next week
is reducing to only one hour UT Sun from 0000 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING

** OKLAHOMA [and non]. 960, May 22 at 0521 UT, KGWA Enid is in
open carrier/dead air but heavy hum past 0535 UT; recheck at 0801 UT now it`s
modulating during Fox ``News``. Occasional chex at 0500 UT (local midnite) for
many months have not found any 5-minute ``Fox holes`` of dead air like used to
appear sporadically but regularly. So I hasten to employ the DX-398 and try to
null the KGWA carrier, volume turned up, wary that modulation might cut back on
at any instant.
At 0534 I do hear a local weather cast. It`s probably
KMA Shenandoah IA during a syndicated talkshow break; second choice KGKL San
Angelo TX, based on numerous previous receptions (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING

** U S A. 9330vvv, WBCQ tests(?) of the
alternate weak AM transmitter here continue during most of the day & night
when nothing is scheduled on the much stronger CUSB transmitter. Sunday May 22
at 1210, S2-S3 with C&W music, and unreadable quick announcement; 1221
tentative ID as WHVW, and Dixieland music; 1229 classic country; finally at
1236, clear ``This is the heart and soul of American music, WHVW``.
WHVW
is 950 in Hyde Park NY, run by J. P. ``Pirate Joe``, Ferraro, who also has his
own shows on WBCQ 7490v, a longtime accomplice of Allan Weiner; and WHVW
programming has been used before as filler on WBCQ. J. P. often serves as a more
liberal counterfoil to the increasingly conservative A. W.
Here`s a
38-month-old programme schedule:

is/was `Murray the Machine` also the default program for many more hours thruout
the week.
Meanwhile, the frequency is constantly varying, and I remeasure
it several times on the R-75 as follows:

It`s getting
weaker and weaker into the dayside, and recheck at 1500 can`t detect it vs local

AFAIK, no one else has reported these extended 9330-AM broadcasts from
WBCQ/WHVW, not even on HFUnderground (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)
** U S A. 5050, May 21 after 2330, quick check on BST-1 caradio
(on the way back from squirrel haven north of Enid), WWRB is indeed on with a
gospel huxter invoking prayers for various brothers, including Dave at WWRB.
As of 1445 UT May 22, website still hasn`t been updated to show 15240
instead of 9370, but reminds us the 5050 service is supposedly Sat-Sun-Mon only
between 23 and 04 UT. So far, I think it has been turning off much earlier than
04.
15240, May 22 at 1501, WWRB isn`t back on yet. But at 1605 recheck,
now 15239.97 is on but only S7 as today Dave is in another time-filling monolog
(which are the best part of WWRB programming), partly similar to what he was
saying yesterday at 1630 but not a playback; about the Radio RSA IS, adding that
he got permission to use it; then lamenting that young people don`t appreciate
how things were for 60-year-old Dave. Recently hired a 20-year-old YL as
copilot, who couldn`t grasp celestial navigation since it is no longer taught in
flight schools. At night, he proved he could calculate the plane`s position
within two miles using his sextant and she was *awed*.
Signal improved to
S9 by 1616, but certainly not big. Comparing: 15825 WWCR is JBA S1, but 15610
WEWN is S9+20 --- indicating spotty sporadic E is favoring AL rather than TN at
the moment. Nothing on the 50 MHz DXmap but on 28 MHz, Es opening from AZ to OK
and TX is shown, MUF 32.
Unknown yet what would ensue at 1630, or 1700
but presumably the Ugandan clandestine until 1900, whatever it is (Glenn Hauser,

** ZAMBIA [non]. 9680, Sunday May 22 at 1230,
trying to detect Voice of Hope, but nothing audible except CNR1 echo jamming
against inaudible RTI. So is VOHA still off following yesterday`s abrupt crash
at 1246?
Yes, Ray Robinson explains that the cause was a fried lizard
(why allow lizards into the transmitter?), and hoped to have it back up this
afternoon before nominal 1700*. At 1349 UT he wrote:
``The culprit was
found to be a lizard that had gotten into the transmitter. It was rather crispy,
and had been causing the short. The guys are reassembling the equipment and
should be testing it again this afternoon. Ray.``

is finished at 1400, still no other signal detectable on 9680, nor at 1500, 1610
