Glenn Hauser logs February 22, 2015

** CUBA. 11845, Feb 22 at 1428, Cuban pulse jamming is audible here as the frequency is otherwise unoccupied --- despite R. Martí having abandoned it a few years ago. Way to go, DentroCuban Jamming Command! (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** INDIA. 9380, Feb 22 at 1359, AIR Aligarh site has resumed transmitting dead air instead of National Channel, fair signal with flutter (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** ITALY [non]. 15190, Feb 22 at 1516, talk in English about ``animal cannibalism``, how humans ``eat the flesh of animal brothers & sisters``. Fair signal with deep fading during which a lite long-path echo is perceptible. This is the Sunday-only broadcast of IRRS at 1500-1530, which HFCC continues to pretend has MILano as transmitter site while we know it`s really Romania, Galbeni as per Aoki, with Radio Santec (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SOUTH CAROLINA [non]. 11580, Feb 22 at 1432, Brother Scare via WRMI, and QRM now is not CNR1 jamming against SOH as recently monitored, but just some digital noises, notably a series of descending tones, like a falling bomb or firework. No such problem on much stronger // 11825 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A [non]. 11840, Feb 22 at 1428-1430+, good signal with M&W conversation in rapid Russian, about Ukraine, Marksism. Nothing in Aoki, but latest HFCC shows since Feb 20 at 14-15, 11840 is IBB Russian via Tinang, PHILIPPINES, 250 kW, 349 degrees to CIRAF 30-33. I cannot find a previous frequency in Aoki or HFCC with same parameters which this would have replaced; no doubt R. Liberty (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 1761 monitoring: confirmed on KVOH 9975, UT Sunday Feb 22 at 0231. Saturday night transmission has now been extended an hour from *0130 UT Sun and sked now updated to show:
`Shore Up Soccer` with Josh Ault --- web link is incorrect, as ```/shoreupsports`` but it`s really
``The Nations First Faith Based Soccer Show``!

WOR is now carried on WA0RCR, 1860-AM kHz, Wentzville MO, nominally 0415v UT Sundays. Monitoring Feb 22: at 0407, Houston AMSAT is wrapping up with SSTV(?) tones; 0408 WA0RCR ID, ARRL Audio News next, dated Fri Feb 20; 0409 pause for ID by Dave Marthouse (remember him from DX show Spectrum?); WOR does not start until 0424, opening upcut/truncated, and it turns out to be last week`s #1760 instead of latest 1761; ends at 0452:15, ID, into RAIN report. Next:
Sun 2300 on WRMI 11580
Mon 0400v on Area 51 via WBCQ 5110v
Mon 2201 on Global 24 via WRMI 9395
Tue 1200 on WRMI 9955
Wed 0401 on Global 24 via WRMI 9395
Wed 0730 & 1530 on Hamburger Lokalradio 7265-CUSB
Wed 1415 on WRMI 9955
Wed 2200 on WBCQ 7490v
Wed 2201 on Global 24 via WRMI 9395
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A [and non]. 9395, Feb 22 at 1358, Global 24 via WRMI is still lacking R. Cairo, yet still on the G24 program schedule for Sundays 1300-1430. Instead I am hearing ``Favorite Son``, by CCR, which I think is part of their limited fill-music repertoire. 1400, `Global 24 News` by Jeff D., bringing up Priscilla (stringer?) in Washington DC, about SCOTUS considering same-sex marriage. Stops at 1401 already for `1812 Overture` fill, but they don`t always play it all the way thru, and yes, by 1408 recheck it`s the evergreen Dame Vera Lynn interview yet again from the European News Network, which lasts until 1421 commercials. During this period, 9395 signal is weaker than both adjacents it`s squeezed between: 9390 R. Thailand news in English, and 9400 V. of Kurdistan music (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A [and non]. 9930, Feb 22 at 1425, rock & roll tune, way atop T8WH, so Ted has chosen the only day of the week to fire a WTWW-2 frequency back up, when it will collide with PALAU after 1400, on Sundays until 1500. 9475 WTWW is also on (and 5830 before 1400), so two transmitters are funxional at the moment; yet only 5830 was active early UT Sunday, no 5085 which would have transmitted Ted`s music show if possible. We suspected the real #2 transmitter had been taken over for use on the #1 frequencies.

At 1707 Feb 22 recheck, 9930 is still on with rock music, and notably stronger than 9475, evidently at reduced power, whatever the transmitter. Meanwhile, #3 had not been heard lately in the afternoons on 12105, so that unit is either down, or substituting for one of the others which is down (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 1550, Sun Feb 22 at 1350 UT, dominant signal on FRG-7 with E/W longwire is non-commercial-sounding interview about a campus United Way drive, on `Weekend Edition` --- could it be 50 kW daytimer KUAZ Tucson AZ already? with a local segment cutaway from NPR Weekend Edition Sunday? No! Finally at 1353 UT a local reference to Cape Girardeau, so it`s KAPE in MO, on 5 kW day pattern skewed toward the west. BTW, Radio-locator shows address is way over in Mt Vernon IL: Withers corp HQ may be there, but is it also programmed remotely from there?? Transmitter site anyway is definitely near C.G. in MO. Meanwhile, no sign of KLFJ Springfield MO halfway between us which should also be on 5 kW ND day pattern, the Branson station on 1550 (Glenn Hauser, Enid OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 104.9 FM via webcasts, WCLV Cleveland, ``Sagebrush Bob`` announces on the Feb 21 edition that `Weekend Radio` will start airing the 12 episodes of `Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy` on Saturday March 21. Probably during the second halves of the one-hour show, which will be on WCLV at 02-03 UT Sundays once DST is running; and on many other stations including KUCO 90.1 OK, one hour later (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 9338 approx., Feb 22 at 1358, heavy noise centered approx. here, jamming? Nothing in Aoki on 9335 or 9340 at any hour, but HFCC has a registration for PBC, Islamabad, Pakistan at 1330-1530 on 9335 in Urdu and English, 250 kW, 282 degrees. Possibly instead of wooden, that transmitter is on and malfunxioning (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
