Glenn Hauser logs April 13-14, 2013

** AUSTRALIA. 9475.0, April 14 at 1224 check, R. Australia in English on nominal frequency, despite Kulbacki, Ontario log of April 9 in the MARE Tipsheet that it was on 9474.0 --- error, or was the WTWW 9479 offsetting contagious? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** AUSTRIA. 11955, April 14 at 0512, African music with drumming, call-and-response, really exotic, but per HFCC it`s only AWR in Hausa, 0500-0530, 300 kW, 190 degrees from Moosbrunn; good signal with flutter (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** BANGLADESH. 15505, April 14 before 1358, BB carrier is on but very poor with flutter; then by 1359 detectable IS, and time signal ending three seconds before 1400, Urdu service (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** BOLIVIA. 4716.8 approx., April 14 at 0050, R. Yatun Ayllu Yura, Yura, presumed on unique off-frequency, better than usual on almost-nitely chex, with Andean music, 0053 Spanish announcement, 0055 mentions ``Sr. Jesucristo``.

5580.36, April 14 at 0111 carrier,, and then some music audible, 0112 announcement, presumed. R. San José on its WOOB and unique frequency.

5952+ R Pio XII had usual good signal, but 6135- R. Santa Cruz, which would be best, already absent by 0111 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** BRAZIL. 4825.0, April 14 at 0101, YL in colloquial Brazilian which rules out the Peruvians offset above and below this frequency, but not which of the two ZYs it be for sure: Bragança ou Cachoeira Paulista (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** BRAZIL. 4915.0, April 14 at 0057, fair signal with Portuguese song, vs CODAR chirps; 0059 two shouted IDs as ``A Rádio Daqui`` with AM frequency, 0100 YL DJ and another song. By now it`s the SSOB from South America, much better than usual, making 6-8 bars on the DX-398 meter, and no contest from other Brazilian frequencies 4885, 4925, 5035, etc. Must have a pipeline from Goiânia, and no sign of the other ZY on 4915, Macapá with 2.5 times the power and 24-hour(?) schedule (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CHINA. Firedrake April 14, before 1300:
13795, fair at 1257
13830, very poor at 1257 vs algo; none in the 12s
15800, very poor at 1253
15870, very poor at 1253
15900, very poor at 1253
16160, poor at 1254
17300, JBA at 1254; none in the 14s
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CHINA. 11744, 11752, 11768, 11776, April 14 at 1328 are the JBA spur carriers today from the 11760 CNR1 jammer. Others to look for according to Wolfgang Büschel, comparing A-12 and A-13 listings:

``I checked all TX site outlets Saipan Agingan Point, Taipei and Tainan today Apr 11, as done last year in August 2012 but couldn't hear any FAULTY jamming transmitter today. 73 wolfy

Last Year A-12     A-13
Saipan   15410     15430    15-17 UT
Saipan   13610     13610    09-11 UT VOA Chinese
Tanshui  11760     11760    13-15 UT SOH Taiwan
Taipei   11710     11720    11-13 UT CBSC RTI Mandarin``

The only other ones I heard last year were around 11710 before 13 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 6165, April 14 at 0114, RHC in wrong language, Spanish instead of English, and // 6100, 6060, 5040, leaving only 6000 for English (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** EAST TURKISTAN. 15445 // 15665, April 14 at 0457 Chinese music, 0500 VOR Russian = MPK; good with flutter. Identical 308 degree parameters from Kashgar at 04-06 per HFCC except 15445 is on a 216 antenna and 15665 is on a 288 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** GERMANY [non]. 15700, April 14 at 1250, VG in French discussing Facebook, // weaker 15275. Both are DW via RWANDA, 15700 non-direxional, and 15275 at 265 degrees (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** KOREA SOUTH. 15575, April 14 at 1335 and other chex during KBSWR English to N America hour, very poor to JBA, unlike sufficient signal yesterday: the risk of such odd scheduling, abandoning closer relays. K-index at 12 was 3; at 15 was 2, no spaceweather storms yet but anticipated per WWV (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** KURDISTAN [non]. 11510, April 14 at 1326, Denge Kurdistan with Kurdish music concert replete with ululation; hasn`t been in well enough to enjoy for a couple weeks, and now only fair past 1356. HFCC now shows this as: ``11510 0300 1900 39,40 KCH 300 116 0 218 1234567 310313 271013 D 12500 Kur MDA BRB BRB 5875`` i.e. via PRIDNESTROVYE; EiBi agrees, and so does Aoki, except showing after 1500 it switches to Bulgaria (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO. 790, April 14 at 1158 UT, Mexican NA, 1200 ``desde Baja California Sur,`` ID for XENT La Paz, 10 kW, and XHNT 25 kW, `una estación del Grupo Fórmula``, audible thru the QRM (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** OKLAHOMA [and non]. 780, April 14 at 0524 UT, KSPI Stillwater open carrier all-night from 250-watt ``daytimer`` has been thus for weeks, any nite checked, causing fast SAH against WBBM with which it is more or less mutually nullable from here; and with WBBM out, KSPI groundwave mixes with opposite KCEG Pueblo CO country music (Glenn Hauser, Enid, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** PERU. 5980, April 14 at 0048, R. Chaski carrier is audible at first check this evening, vs noise level maybe including some residual Cuban jamming. Also some modulation making it until cutoff at 0103:23* which is 5 seconds later than yesterday. Since sky is partly cloudy, my streetlite fires on at *0110, a minute earlier than yesterday (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SERBIA [non]. 9685, UT Sunday April 14 at 0114, IRS is off! Unlike one week ago when English was airing a semihour later than on weekdays. Perhaps this week they decided to follow their published schedule lacking that, rather than usual practice (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** TIBET [non]. 15525, April 14 at 1401, V. of Tibet, via MADAGASCAR, good signal with neat throat-singing, introducing talk segment; no jamming audible yet. As in EiBi and Aoki, while HFCC shows instead VOA Kurdish via Wertachtal --- NOT (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 1664 monitoring: confirmed on WTWW-2, 9930, Saturday April 13 starting at 2332 after some deadair during which there was some very weak Spanish bleed, suspected from WTWW-3 12105 altho did not have time to match it for sure. Rechecked at 0001, too late, 9930 is already off the air, so was the tail of WOR cut off? 5085 is already on, with QSY announcement *to* 5085, which should have played before the frequency axually changed. Then old `QSO` show from Dayton Hamvention 2012y. WOR also confirmed on WTWW-1, 5830, UT Sunday April 14 after 0400. Expect another play circa 2315 Sunday on 9930 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 5050-AM, April 14 at 0057, WWRB extra frequency is on again this Saturday nite with preacher; 0109 now it`s big band music fill, and // 3195 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 4802-USB, April 14 at 0102, Navy MARS net, one guy talking about his 2m and 6m repeaters, and he will not be available for the `5W4B` net on Monday morning, what to do? Reply from NNN0AJT. Zero hits on Google search; yahoo search insists I should be looking for Nannaj, a bird sanxuary in India! Also not a single hit on that call among the 48,500 posts so far to the UDXF yg.

4630-USB, April 14 at 0106, MARS-like net, but mentions ``Tennessee CAP 4-1`` or some such, no more check-ins so now the net is free for informal conversation. This site
http://www.tncap.us/ has everything but radio frequencies and skeds (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 2000-USB, April 14 at 0116, New York Radio, VOLMET is very poor but confirmed still running on this strange new frequency; had not checked it for a few weeks. Schedule is H+00-20 and 30-50, and easy to // 3485-USB and the higher ones (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 960, April 14 at 0500 UT in KGWA Fox-hole of dead air, ABC news is easily readable, much stronger than it had been from KMA Iowa; now it`s no doubt KGKL San Angelo TX, which is getting to be a nuisance on its day facilities: not much chance of XEK, XEFAMA or the other Mexicans making it now (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 1160, April 14 at 1208 UT, banda music from SSW or is it NNE? Anyway in KSL null making slow SAH with it, but suffering from KFAQ IBOC circa 1157, so side-tuning upward helps. 1211 fading, and by 1221, the non-KSL filler instead is R. Disney = KRDY San Antonio TX. I already figured out what the SS on 1160 is in my August 27, 2011 log preserved among:
http://forums.wtfda.org/showthread.php?6543-MW-DX-from-Enid-OK-by-Glenn-Hauser
i.e. KCTO Cleveland MO = Kansas City market (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 1520, April 14 at 0531 UT, Mexican music station is tearing up KOKC and making fast SAH. Can`t see how it could be faraway KGGD Oregon City even if they have lost direxionality and running 50 kW, so either a Mexican or format change and probable cheating from some closer US station. Hoped for some announcement or ID, but just music as long as I listened until KOKC regained (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
